What Happened at ICE Totally Gaming and Who Won at IGA 2019?

CE Totally Gaming is an annual event which takes place every year towards the beginning of February at London’s ExCel exhibition centre. This year’s event ran for three days between February 2nd and 4th and it started just one day after the International Gaming Awards was held at The Savoy Hotel London on Monday 1st February.

Lots of exciting new games from various leading online casino software providers were previewed at ICE 2016 and Microgaming showcased VR Roulette in the Microgaming CRYO lab. NetEnt and Betsoft Gaming were among those to attend, also previewing their latest innovations. Also in attendance at the Microgaming stand was Pravin Patel from Guinness World Records, UK player Jonathon Heywood and Alan Alger from Betway Casino.

They were invited along to Microgaming’s stand to receive an official Guinness World Records® certificate for Jonathon’s record-breaking £13,213,838.68 (€17,879,645.12) progressive jackpot win that he netted just after midnight on October 6th, 2018. The 26-year-old soldier and Afghanistan veteran placed a £0.25p bet on the Mega Moolah slot machine on that lucky October night and he turned this into the ‘Largest Jackpot Payout in an Online Slot Machine Game’.

“It’s been a few months since the win, but I still can’t quite believe I won such a life-changing amount! And to officially become a Guinness World Records title holder is the icing on the cake,” said the winner. He then went on to say, “With my winnings I’ve enjoyed some nice holidays, bought a new car, ensured my family are looked after and invested wisely for the future. It’s been incredible.”

Shortly after winning, he said, “It’s all so surreal, and I can’t come to terms with it just yet, I just kept staring at my screen and seeing this huge number in my Betway account.” These comments came directly from official Microgaming press releases. The Microgaming CEO, Roger Raatgever, also commented on receiving an official Guinness World Records® certificate.

He said, “It was fantastic to welcome Jon to our stand at ICE for the official Guinness World Records certificate handover. Having spent some time with him today, I can honestly say it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. We’re proud to share the world record and look forward to creating our next jackpot millionaire.”

At IGA 2019 (the International Gaming Awards), Microgaming landed the coveted ‘Innovator of the Year’ award and NetEnt won the ‘Slot Provider/Supplier Product of the Year’ award, while Mr Green won the ‘Mobile Operator of the Year’ award and IGT won the ‘Best User Experience in Mobile Award’ award.
